The Sound of Rain
In the mid 1950’s, Judd Markley is a coal miner who loses his brother in a mine cave-in. He decides to stop working in that dangerous industry. He leaves West Virginia and moves to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, taking a job at a Waccamaw Timber Company.
Larkin Heyward’s father owns the timber company. She is a socialite who often volunteers and attends high society social events. Eventually she wants to make a difference in the world by helping the poor children of Appalachia.
Even though the two are from completely different worlds, a devastating hurricane brings the two together.
